BMX tonight

BMX tonight was a crack up for me... I just kept laughing at stuff. Well, I gave us 15 minutes to get ready, get in the car and go... so the chances of forgetting something was high. I thought the boys shoes were in the car, and they were this morning before we went to Trader Joe's to replenish our 72 hour kit, but I guess the shoes were brought into the house and put away. I forgot both boy's shoes. I think of it as we exit the freeway in Orange. I couldn't possibly go home and come back in enough time to make the practice worth $7. So I jump out of my car and ask the first person I see with a little boy if they have any extra size 13 shoes in their car. (A lot of kids have clip-ins so they could have their regular shoes in the car when they put on their clip-in shoes, so it's worth asking). I stopped my search when I realize that we have spongebob crocs in the car. How lucky and how funny. I have Nix put them on and try riding around and standing up as he rides to make sure he can do it safely. I pay for his practice and off he goes. Tino roamed around with his socks on, the other kids thought it was pretty funny!
He did amazing tonight. He was wearing crocs, he was standing up the whole time, he rode by me once and said, "Did you see that jump?" I'm cheering for him every time he passes me, and he thinks he is actually racing. Then, when the gates came up he dropped onto the gate all by himself and he waited for the gate to drop, then rode out of it all by himself. He was getting into each hill, shifting his body weight, and he even crashed for his first time, he said, "Two boys crashed then I crashed into them, but we crash when we ride." He was totally fine with it. I love taking him to the track and watching him progress. I think he may start racing soon. He is looking more ready than ever before. He wants a dirt motorcycle. I told him when he gets 5 trophies he can get a dirt bike. We will see! He says when he grows up he wants to be a race car driver. That's a little expensive you ambitious little thing! I don't know how it's all going to work out for him, but I will try my best to help him accomplish his goals, within reason of course.
