We can both ride on 2 wheels.

I don't have to push the stroller anymore while Nix rides and waits for me at every corner. We can now both ride and go further and faster. We went on a 1.8 mile dirt loop by our house yesterday, not including the mile it took to get there. It was hard work but lots of fun! Nix does so well on his little dirt bike. I told him, this is mountain biking, as we ascended a long, pretty steep hill. He needed to stop a few times and wanted to walk a couples times, but always ended up getting back on his bike to ride it. When we dropped down the other side, I went first, then I stopped and watched him descend. He didn't use his breaks at first, then started a speed wobble. Sort of like how the street bikes start to wobble on the track going 200 mph. And I kept yelling, "Use your brake." He did it twice and pulled out of it both times without crashing. It was scary to watch. I just need to remember not to worry until there is need to worry. Sometimes, there is nothing I can do, and I need to let him learn through his own experiences. I need to find out when we should start using the bike lane instead of the side walk. I think the sidewalk will have to do for a while, and walkers will just have to be patient.
